Reintroduction of face-to-face consultations
In line with the latest public health guidance and adhering to strict safety protocols, the Department for Work and Pensions has reintroduced face-to-face consultations for Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
Consultations will resume from May 2021. Initially this will only be for those who we are unable to be fully assessed by other channels.
Claimants will be invited for their appointment by letter, which will clearly set out what to expect at their appointment.
Face-to-face consultations will take place alongside existing paper-based assessments and telephone consultations, which will continue to take place where suitable.
Please note that home consultations remain suspended due to the ongoing social distancing guidelines that are currently in place.
The Department for Work and Pensions has published detailed guidance on the resumption of face-to-face consultations which can be found here.
The approach and guidance will be kept under review to ensure it remains aligned with the latest public health guidance.
